Performance Coaching for Television News & Sports Talent

Tony Martinez

Tony joined Barry Nash & Company (formerly The Coaching Company) in 2001 after a distinguished career as anchor, producer and reporter in major market and network sports television. He has received a George Foster Peabody award and three national Emmys as a producer for ESPN's Sports Century series. He has received two regional Edward R. Murrow awards, a dozen Katie awards and several Heartland Emmys for sports anchoring, reporting and producing.

As a coach, he has mentored notable sports talent like Michael Irvin, Daryl Johnston and Craig James. He was a member of the team that launched the first French-language all sports cable network in Canada and currently coaches a broad range of talent for networks like ESPN and the MLB Network.

In addition to his work with sports talent, Tony serves as the principal coach for the news talent for selected Hearst television stations and for NBC Universal's Telemundo affiliate stations.

An independent producer as well as a coach, Tony regularly produces documentary films on a variety of subjects, including an award-winning 2002 documentary, Colors of Courage, about his father's experience in the infamous Bataan Death March in World War II.
